초록
본 연구는 대학생의 내현적 자기애가 실패공포에 미치는 영향에서 내면화된 수치심의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 서울을 포함한 전국 6개 권역의 만 18∼29세 대학생 423 명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 SPSS 26.0과 PROCESS Macro 4.0 을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 내현적 자기애, 내면화된 수치심, 실패공포 간에 모 두 유의한 정적 상관이 확인되었다. 또한 내현적 자기애가 실패공포에 미치는 영향에서 내면화된 수치심은 유의한 부분 매개효과를 나타냈으며, 부트스트래핑 검증을 통해 간접 효과의 통계적 유의성이 확인되었다. 이는 내현적 자기애 성향의 대학생이 실패를 두려 워하는 과정에서 내면화된 수치심이 핵심적인 정서적 매개 기제로 작용함을 의미한다. 본 연구는 실패공포의 형성 과정에서 성격 특성과 실패 회피 동기를 연결하는 정서적 경 로를 실증적으로 확인하였으며, 상담 장면에서 수치심에 초점을 둔 치료적 개입이 실패 공포 감소에 기여할 수 있음을 논의하였다.
This study examined the mediating effect of internalized shame in the relationship between covert narcissism and fear of failure among college students. A total of 423 college students aged 18 to 29, enrolled in universities across six regions of South Korea, including Seoul, participated in the survey. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.0. Results indicated that covert narcissism, internalized shame, and fear of failure were all significantly and positively correlated. Internalized shame partially mediated the relationship between covert narcissism and fear of failure, with both direct and indirect effects being statistically significant. Bootstrapping analysis confirmed the significance of the indirect effect. These findings suggest that internalized shame serves as a key emotional mechanism linking covert narcissistic personality characteristics to fear of failure in achievement contexts. This study provides empirical evidence for the emotional pathway from personality traits to motivational avoidance and discusses implications for counseling interventions targeting internalized shame to reduce fear of failure among college students.
