This study aimed to analyze whether Multidimensional Experiential Avoidance(MEA) mediates the relationship between Basic Psychological Needs(BPN) and College Adjustment(CA), and whether this mediating process is moderated by Maladaptive Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies(MCERS). Data from 397 university students were analyzed. First, BPN significantly predicted CA through MEA. Second, the moderating effect of MCERS was significantly revealed in the relationship between BPN and MEA. Third, the moderated mediating effect of MCERS was verified in the path leading to CA through BPN and MEA. This indicates that the indirect effect of BPN on CA via MEA varies depending on the level of MCERS. Finally we discussed the implications of this study and made suggestions for further research.
