The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between authentic leadership of organizational leaders, as perceived by youth counselors, and job satisfaction. Data from an online survey of 253 youth counselors working in youth counseling institutions were analyzed. The results showed that perceived authentic leadership, psychological empowerment, and job satisfaction were significantly and positively correlated, and that psychological empowerment mediated the relationship between authentic leadership and job satisfaction. These findings suggest that the more youth counselors perceive agency directors¡¯ authentic leadership, the more psychological empowerment is fostered, which in turn leads to higher job satisfaction. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of the present study were discussed.
