초록
공군사관학교는 2024학년도 사관생도 선발에 고교학교장추천전형을 도입하였다. 학교 장전형은 일반전형에 비해 사관학교 지원동기가 높고, 학업 및 적성이 우수할 것으로 가 정된다. 본 연구에서는 이를 검증하기 위해 전형집단별 손실률, 선발시험 성적, 그리고 사관학교 입학 이후 2개 학기의 학업 및 생활훈련 성취도를 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과 학교장전형 지원자는 일반전형에 비해 선발과정에서의 손실률은 낮은 반면, 대부분의 선 발시험에서 일반전형보다 더 높은 성적을 받았다. 하지만 사관학교 최종 입학률과 입학 이후 1학년 성적에서는 두 전형집단 간에 유의한 차이가 발견되지 않았다.
In 2024, the Republic of Korea Air Force Academy (KAFA) introduced the High School Principal-Nominated Admission Track as an alternative pathway in its cadet selection system. This track assumes that applicants recommended by their high school principals are more motivated to attend KAFA, demonstrate higher academic proficiency, and show stronger potential for success at the academy than applicants in the general admission track. This study assessed these assumptions by comparing the two groups across three areas: attrition rates during the selection process, performance on selection examinations, and overall cadet life and military training outcomes during the first two semesters after matriculation. The results indicate that principal-nominated applicants had lower attrition rates and generally higher scores on most components of the selection examinations. However, the two groups showed no significant differences in final admission rates or in first-year academic performance, cadet life evaluations, or military training outcomes.
