This study investigated the counseling experiences and post-counseling impact on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) adolescents. Interviews were conducted with seven adolescents who engaged in NSSI within the past year and completed a minimum of five sessions without premature termination. Data analysis, utilizing Giorgi's method, yielded two main themes, 14 higher-level categories, 36 lower-level categories, and 133 meaning units. Adolescents reported that counseling led to reduced worry and confusion, provided comfort, and facilitated resolution of negative emotions. Following counseling, participants experienced positive changes in self-injury thoughts, behaviors and acquired improved coping abilities. The study¡¯s significance lies in analyzing NSSI counseling from the client's perspective to identify both facilitating and inhibiting factors. Limitations and suggestions for follow-up research are also discussed.
