This study conducted a qualitative analysis using in-depth interviews and comparative analysis with six college students with insecure attachment, in order to explore their interpersonal experiences on social networking sites (SNS). The findings indicate that participants employed various strategies to fulfill their social needs and sought to gain popularity on SNS. They exhibited heightened sensitivity to others' reactions, often interpreting them negatively and experiencing corresponding negative emotions. Additionally, they engaged in self-presentation and image management to align with perceived social expectations, striving to construct an idealized self-image. Such negative self-perception and efforts to conceal their true selves contributed to relational instability both online and offline, further exacerbating low self-esteem and feelings of inferiority.
