The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Disaster Resilience Scale (DRS), designed to assess the resilience of individuals who have experienced disasters. Based on a comprehensive literature review, construct factors and preliminary items were generated, and content validity was established through expert evaluation. Surveys were conducted to collect two independent datasets (N©û = 454, N©ü = 458). Exploratory factor analysis identified five factors - social support, family cohesion, meaning in life, acceptance, and self-regulation - comprising 25 items. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated an acceptable model fit (CMIN/DF = 2.657, RMSEA = .060, CFI = .959, TLI = .953), supporting both convergent and discriminant validity. Criterion validity was verified through correlations with the Family Resilience Scale (FRS) and the Clinical Resilience Inventory (CRI). As the first domestically developed instrument for measuring disaster resilience, the DRS can be used to assess and counsel disaster survivors, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of national disaster management strategies.
