This study examined the mediating effects of social support and spousal emotional interaction on the relationship between perceived stress and life satisfaction among older adults. Participants were 342 men and women aged 65 years and older. Using SPSS 27.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.1(Models 4 and 6), correlation, mediation, and sequential mediation analyses were conducted. The results were as follows. First, perceived stress was negatively correlated with social support, spousal emotional interaction, and life satisfaction, whereas these three variables were positively correlated with one another. Secondly, in the relationship between perceived stress and life satisfaction, both social support and spousal emotional interaction exhibited complete mediating effects. Furthermore, social support and spousal emotional interaction sequentially mediated the effect of perceived stress on life satisfaction. These findings offer foundational data for counseling to enhance older adults' life satisfaction, and suggest directions for subsequent research and program development.
