This study aims to examine the ethical issues arising from the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and robots in elderly care in Korea¡¯s super-aged society from the perspective of care ethics. Although the demand for elderly care has rapidly increased due to the sharp rise in the aging population, Korea faces significant limitations in manpower and financial resources to adequately respond. Consequently, AI- and robot-assisted care has emerged as a potential alternative; however, the introduction of such technologies does not automatically lead to improvements in the quality of care. Despite advancements in efficiency and safety, fundamental values of care—such as human dignity, autonomy, privacy, relationality, and equity—may be at risk. Through literature analysis, four ethical dilemmas were identified: (1) tension between autonomy and efficiency, (2) conflict between safety monitoring and privacy protection, (3) struggles between human relationships and technological dependence, and (4) inequality in access to advanced technologies. The findings confirm that AIand robot-assisted care is not merely a technical matter but a social process that reshapes the meaning of care. Accordingly, the study highlights the necessity of institutionalizing ethical design, reinforcing legal and institutional safeguards, and building social consensus through multi-stakeholder cooperation.
