This study investigated the moderating effects of emotional support on the relationship between abstinence self-efficacy and recovery in family and AA group. Data were collected from 141 participants attending open AA meetings and local AA groups in the Honam region. The main results were as follows. First, abstinence self-efficacy showed positive correlations with both family and AA emotional support. Second, abstinence self-efficacy was positively correlated with recovery. Third, emotional support from family did not significantly moderate the relationship between abstinence self-efficacy and recovery. Fourth, emotional support from AA groups significantly moderated this relationship. These findings indicate that, among individuals participating in AA, higher levels of emotional support from AA groups strengthen the positive effect of abstinence self-efficacy on recovery. This suggests that emotional support within AA meetings serves as an effective intervention resource in addiction counseling. Limitations and future research tasks were discussed.
