This phenomenological study explored emotions and emotional self-understanding changes in middle school girls' peer group culture. Three second-year girls were interviewed and data analyzed using Colaizzi's method. Four categories emerged: tension in peer adaptation, relationship maintenance strategies, conflict between belonging and exclusion, and self-reflection and growth. Participants suppressed emotions amid belonging anxiety but gradually became sensitive to others' feelings, aware of emotional patterns, and improved emotion regulation. This was forming identity through emotion clarification, self-insight, and regulation. Grounded in Emotion-Focused Theory and emotion-based coaching, this study illuminates how peer experiences impact adolescents' self-understanding and relationships, providing data for emotional education and counseling.
