본 연구는 대학생의 지루함이 온라인 트롤링에 미치는 영향을 가학성과 공감이 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 전국의 대학생 414명을 대상으로 인터넷 트롤링 척도, 지루함 성향 척도, 가학 성향 종합 척도, 공감 척도, 사회적 바람직성 척도를 포함한 온라인 설문조사에응답하도록 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중다회귀분석을 실시하여 지루함, 가학성, 공감이 온라인 트롤링에 미치는 상대적 영항력을 알아본 결과, 가학성이 온라인 트롤링에 유의한 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 둘째, 지루함과 온라인 트롤링의관계를 가학성이 강화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 지루함과 온라인 트롤링과의 관계에서 공감의 조절효과는 유의하지 않았다.

The study examined the moderating effects of sadism and empathy on the impact of boredom on online trolling. A nationwide online survey was conducted with 414 university students, including measures of Internet Troll Scale, Boredom Proneness Scale(BPS), Comprehensive Assessment of Sadistic Tendencies Scale(CAST), Empathy Scale, and Social Desirability Scale(SDS-9). The results of this study are as follows. First, as a result of conducting multiple regression analysis to examine the relative contributions of boredom, sadism, and empathy to online trolling, sadism was the significant predictor. Second, we found that sadism strengthened the relationship between boredom and online trolling. Third, the moderating effect of empathy on the relationship between boredom and online trolling was not significant.
