The purpose of this study is to systematically develop and validate the Disaster Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory (DPTGI) as a measure for assessing psychological recovery following a disaster. To achieve this, preliminary items were formulated based on a literature review, translation of existing measures, and expert consultation. Then, an exploratory analysis was conducted to confirm the factor structure. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) confirmed the final structure of the DPTGI, comprising seven factors and 34 items: discovery of possibilities, family growth, detachment, value change, value recognition, seeking support, and spiritual growth. Furthermore, to assess the reliability and validity of the scale, correlation analyses were conducted with the Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory-X (PTGI-X), Beck¡¯s Anxiety Inventory, and the Clinical Resilience Scale. The results demonstrated significant correlations, establishing the convergent and criterion-related validity of the DPTGI. Based on the research findings, this study is significant in developing the DPTGI for Koreans, providing a clear conceptual framework and factor structure of the post-disaster growth. Furthermore, with continued refinement and the development of standardized norms, this scale is expected to serve as a reliable and valid assessment tool for future research and practice.
