We explored perceptions and attitudes toward face-to-face counseling and telecounseling among 484 college students during the COVID-19 situation using an online survey. We explored differences in pariticpants¡¯ preferences for counseling format in general and COVID-19 situations and compared face-to-face and videoconferencing counseling attitudes. Also, the intention to use videoconferencing counseling was investigated, and participants' reported reasons were analyzed with CQR-M. As a result, first, we found a significant difference in preferences for the counseling formats depending on the situation. Second, participants reported less favorable attitude toward videoconferencing counseling than face-to-face counseling; they reported lower value and greater discomfort for videoconferencing counseling. Third, participants with previous counseling experience had more favorable attitudes toward face-to-face and videoconferencing counseling than those without counseling experience. Fourth, 56.2% of participants reported that they would use videoconferencing counseling. Regarding participants' reasons related to their intention to use videoconferencing counseling, various categories and subcategories emerged.
