<Abstract>
This study was conducted to confirm the effect of clinical practice stress on mental health and to confirm the mediating effect of emotional intelligence in the relationship between the two variables. To this end, a survey was conducted on 3rd and 4th grade nursing college students enrolled in two colleges area and the collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. The main results are as follows. First, there was a correlation between the practice situation, emotional use and mental hostility. The practice situation was negatively correlated with emotional use and positively correlated with mental hostility. Emotional use was negatively correlated with mental hostility. Second, as a result of mediating effect analysis, it was found that emotional use plays a role as a partial mediating in the relationship between clinical practice stress by the practice situation and mental hostility. Based on the results of this study, it was confirmed that a nursing curriculum that helps nursing students' mental health through improvement of emotional intelligence is needed.
