<Abstract>
The purpose of this study was to examine the differences in eating behavior focused on gender and body image in college students, and to investigate whether the interaction effect of gender and body image was on eating behavior. The results showed the followings. first, women showed higher scores than men in all eating behavior types. In addition, it was found that there was a difference between restrained and negative emotional eating behavior depending on body image. Second, the interaction effect of gender and body image was confirmed in restrained and external eating behavior. Men's level of restrained eating behavior increased sequentially according to their body image, and women showed high scores of restrained eating behavior in all body image groups, except when perceived as skinny. Lastly, in external eating behavior, males did not show any difference between groups, whereas females had a greater tendency for external eating in the normal group than in the overweight group. Finally, the limitations of present study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
