<Abstract>

The purpose of this study is to examine a structural relationship among parental attachment, emotional intelligence, social skills and resilience of early adolescents. The subjects are 321 students attending at first grader of the middle school in D Metropolitan City. The measurement instruments are the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA), EQ Episode Test, Social Skill Rating System (SSRS), and Friendship Features Interview for Young Children (FFIYC). The results of the analysis are as follows. First, parental attachment of the early adolescents have direct effects upon their emotional intelligence, social skills and resilience. Also, there are direct effects of emotional intelligence on social skills and resilience. Social skills are also found to have direct effects on resilience. Second, early adolescents' parental attachment have indirect effects on resilience mediated by emotional intelligence as well as social skills. Parental attachment have indirect effects on social skills via emotional intelligence, and it further have indirect effects upon resilience. This outcome implies that parental attachment perceived by adolescents may be effective for promoting resilience of early adolescents as well as young children. Furthermore, these results implies that emotional intelligence and the social skill of early adolescents necessary for developed by emotional control training and interpersonal relational training.
